The City of Indio is the largest and most populated city in the Coachella Valley desert region of southern California. The city’s estimated population is about 89,000; nearly 68 percent of residents are Hispanic and approximately 33 percent of residents are 18 years of age or younger. The city is served by the Indio Police Department, which is a full-service law enforcement agency, with a total authorized strength of 74 sworn and 45 non-sworn personnel, as well as more than 56 volunteer staff.
