In the last 50 years, the policing profession has witnessed a proliferation of law enforcement operating models and methodologies. In a large part, this change has been energized by major studies that have examined crime, locations, hot spots, repeat offenders, and nearly every other facet of criminal justice. As these new ideas unfolded, many police agencies have struggled to identify which specific model they should adopt.
