Metal detector

Garrett Metal Detectors announces the Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) 250, a ground search metal detector designed for locating lost, hidden, or missing weapons or other contraband in crime scene investigations and similar law enforcement-related searches. Garrett Metal Detectors manufactures ground search, walk-through, and handheld metal detection products and provides metal detector training for security applications worldwide. The CSI 250 features Garrett’s graphic target analyzer (GTA) technology with graphic target identification; an accept/reject notch for trash elimination; electronic pinpoint for easy target recovery; continuous target depth indicator; and sensitivity adjustment (eight levels). The CSI 250 includes the standard PROformance submersible search coil, a CSI carry bag, and headphones.

Wireless router

Cisco announces the 3200 Series wireless and mobile routers, which are designed to offer law enforcement secure data, voice, and video communications across a wide range of different wireless and wired networks. Standards-based mobile IP is designed to deliver transparent roaming for mobile applications between multiple wireless networks. The Cisco 3200 Series uses Cisco IOS software to provide security, manageability, and scalability. The Cisco 3200 Series is engineered to give law enforcement agencies always-on wireless access for vehicle networks with easy mobility through mobile IP regardless of location; advanced IP services; and an optional rugged enclosure for in-vehicle deployments, designed to completely seal networking components from harsh environments.

Aerial camera

Cineflex LLC, an engineering, design, and manufacturing company specializing in motion control camera systems, announces the V14 Magnum LE a gyro-stabilized aerial camera system designed to combine a full-resolution high-definition camera with an advanced infrared sensor in a single package. Designed for federal, state, and local law enforcement, border security, and homeland defense missions, the Cineflex V14 Magnum LE is engineered for both daytime and nighttime surveillance. Ground personnel can view both the HD and infrared images in real time through an encrypted microwave downlink system that can be integrated with the Cineflex V14 Magnum LE and delivered to either a mobile or fixed command center.

Firearms training simulator

Laser Shot Inc. introduces its compact and portable training simulation system, the Laser Shot LE-Pro. Developed to help
departments address the rising cost of ammunition, the scarcity of firing ranges, and the limited availability of training programs, the LE-Pro is designed to deliver firearms training through programmed scenarios. The unit consists of a dry-fire laser insert, video courseware, a Windows XP laptop computer, a video projector, amplified multimedia speakers, and a Pelican case. Emergency medical helicopter

Bell Helicopter introduces the GlobalRanger, a Bell 429 light twin helicopter available in an emergency medical service version. The aircraft is designed to have a cabin volume of 220 cubic feet, a useful load of 2,700 pounds with a single-pilot IFR configuration, and a range of 365 nautical miles with full payload. In the EMS configuration, the helicopter is engineered to have two-patient capability with both attendants at patient head. It has integrated sliding doors with an opening wide enough to side-load patients.

Taser judgment training system

IES Interactive Training, provider of use-of-force training products designed to develop judgment and decision-making skills for law enforcement, military, and government professionals, and Taser International, a market leader in advanced nonlethal devices, announce the launch of the Taser judgmental trainer (TJT), an interactive training system that delivers advanced simulated training for law enforcement and government agencies deploying TASER non-lethal devices. The TJT system comes equipped with the Taser M26 and X26 user course, produced exclusively by IES Summit Training International, and incorporates the Taser device into the use-of-force continuum in a series of interactive training scenarios, all based on Taser International’s safe usage guidelines.

Speed sign

All Traffic Solutions announces that it has added a feature to its SPEEDsentry radar that is designed to make the unit more portable. In addition to its current mounting system that is designed to let users quickly install the display on nearly any pole, the newest feature is a retractable Your Speed sign. The sign is designed to fold over the display to provide extra protection and allow for more convenient storage when moving between locations. SPEEDsentry is a traffic-calming device.

Video recorder for motorcycles

L-3 Communications Mobile-Vision Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 Communications Corporation, introduces the Flashback CycleVision digital recording system available for motorcycles. With its rugged, reliable, solid-state memory, Flashback CycleVision is designed to give motorcycle patrol officers the ability to digitally record video evidence to enhance their safety while protecting them from unwarranted allegations. It is designed to withstand the constant shock and vibration associated with motorcycles, to mount easily in the saddlebag and allow ample room for other equipment, and to draw very little power. The monitor console includes a 3.5-inch color LCD monitor, a speaker with adjustable volume, and backlit operational controls that duplicate those on the DVR.

Steck introduces its Big Easy lockout tool for unlocking vehicles. The tool is designed to allow police officers to unlock vehicles quickly and without damaging car doors.

Databases for mapping system
The Pictometry International Corporation, a leader in digital aerial oblique imagery, and Positron Public Safety Systems, a leader in end-to-end public safety solutions for call handling and dispatching, announce that Pictometry’s measuring software and digital aerial photo databases will be embedded as a built-in component of the Positron Power MAP product. The combined product offering will be available from both companies to new and existing Positron customers who wish to add it to their Power MAP system. The combined solution is designed to enable 911 dispatchers to have a single integrated software system that can seamlessly use both companies’ software.

Fuel tank shield
Fire Panel LLC announces the Fire Panel, a protective shield containing a powdered fire-extinguishing agent and mounted on or near a police vehicle’s fuel tank. In the event of a severe impact to the vehicle, the patented Fire Panel shield is designed to shatter and discharge a cloud of extinguishing powder to the surrounding fuel tank area, helping to prevent the ignition of the fuel or quickly suppress a fire. To shell of the Fire Panel shield is made of a proprietary blend of Noryl resins. The shell incorporates a number of hollow, horizontal channels, each independently filled with extinguishing powder.

Hearing protection
The Hearing Safety Group of Bacou-Dalloz and LightSPEED Aviation announce the Precision Series of industrial communication hearing protection headsets, which will be developed and marketed under the corporate banner of LightSPEED Industrial. All Precision Series headsets will be designed to offer the ability to interconnect with communications devices such as two-way radios and cell phones to facilitate two-way communication, as well as AM/FM radios, CD players, and other devices. The products will also offer active noise attenuation to improve the overall noise reduction by three to four decibels while reducing user fatigue and improving intelligibility of the communications.

Data sharing software
VisionAIR announces the limited availability release of VisionCONNECT 2.0, an integration platform designed to enable public safety agencies to share data across jurisdictions. This release offers several new features to help investigators and officers with suburban to metro case investigations: a watch list with subscription and notification capabilities, NCIC search capability, departmental statistics, and the ability to view and print field reports. These new features complement version 1.0, which is designed to help agencies share data, maintain ownership of data, and conduct global searches across disparate systems that return a single-view response. The command and control portal is engineered to provide a public safety user with a bulletin board for department postings, a dashboard for background searches, and, with version 2.0, an investigative watch list.

Light
Pelican Products introduces the 2430 MityLite Plus 4AA. The 2430 sports a tail-cap switch designed to allow for easy one-handed operation as well as a separate replaceable lamp for easy maintenance. The light features a high-powered Xenon bulb designed to blast approximately 32 lumens for up to four hours of consecutive battery burn time. The 2430 is engineered to be water-resistant, is constructed of rugged ABS Resin plastic, and comes standard with a safety lanyard as well as a helmet clip for easy hard hat attachment.

Hydration equipment
CamelBak Products LLC announces two new technologies designed to keep troops hydrated, the CamelBak WaterBeast reservoir and the CamelBak Low Infrared Reflective (LIRR) system. The WaterBeast reservoir is scheduled to become the standard CamelBak reservoir. The LIRR system features special backpack material and hardware that is designed to reduce infrared signature in the near-IR light range (0.7 to 1.3 microns) to maximize stealth in the field. Both of the new products feature CamelBak’s antimicrobialprotection to help keep water free of bacteria and fungi.

Undercover apparel
U.S. Cavalry announces its new line of undercover wear, Bullet 50. Bullet 50 jeans and khakis were designed by a former undercover officer to meet the challenge of looking inconspicuous while carrying duty gear. The pants are designed with an inner concealed pocket, a cuff pocket, a baton pocket, and a large rear pocket. They are also designed to support the weight of the undercover officers’ weapon and accessories.

Helmet
Super Seer introduces the Seer Full Coverage S1607 fiberglass/Kevlar helmet with three-position air scoop venting system designed to move air across the forehead and over the top of the head. This system, together with the breathable ultrasoft moisture management fabrics, is designed to produce superior airflow and increase comfort. Super Seer has designed the shell liner combination to be wider from side to side in the cheek area and slightly broader across the forehead for extended riding comfort.

Airport threat detector
MSA announces the Safesite multithreat detection system, designed to help reduce the risk of chemical exposure and improve consequence management in airports. This wireless networked system is engineered to detect up to six threats and communicate the presence of chemical warfare agents, gamma radiation, volatile organic compounds, oxygen deficiency, combustible gases, and toxic industrialchemicals. The Safesite system’s Safecom command center receives critical and practical information from the multithreat detector. The system is designed to be portable and operable in temporary or permanent installations for homeland security measures, perimeter monitoring, baggage handling, and building protection. The unit is alsodesigned to transmit alarmstatus, GPS location, battery run time, signal strength, and fault conditions.
