Eyewitness testimony is an important investigative tool and extremely compelling in court. Unfortunately mistaken eyewitness identification is the single greatest cause of wrongful convictions nationwide. Mistaken eyewitness identification has been reported to play a role in more than 75 percent of the convictions that have been overturned by DNA testing.
