IACP News: June 2012

The IACP received a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant in December 2010 to examine the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) iTrafficking initiative, a program that provides firearms crime analysts at pilot site fusion centers in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York to study trafficking of firearms. The IACP effort involves examining the role of fusion centers in the timely collection, analysis, and dissemination of criminal intelligence based on crime gun tracing to support strategic partnerships between local, state, and federal law enforcement to interdict firearms trafficking and reduce violent crime.
