Technology in contemporary policing is far from what is seen in science fiction novels and movies; however, embracing new technologies—such as artificial intelligence—can empower police agencies with more sophisticated practices. Although these advancements can be promising, police leaders must learn to navigate any challenges and address potential threats and ethical considerations that may arise.
