Mentoring is a strategy focused on the wellness of people, and choosing the most effective model could impact not only young officers but the health of the agency, community, and profession. By implementing mentorship programs—at an agency level, regional level, or national level—agencies can tap into the experience of successful veteran officers to guide, develop, and assist the next generation of officers.
