Biometric card
Zwipe announces its new, next-generation biometric card, a contactless smart card credential with on-card fingerprint reading. The Zwipe biometric card quickly reads the user’s fingerprint in less than a second. Eliminating the problems of solely deploying PINs and standard cards, the wirelessly powered Zwipe biometric card lets users authenticate themselves directly on the card through a fingerprint. Only then will the card system activate the lock. This is much more secure than simply using a standard card. TRIPwire, the Technical Resource for Incident Prevention, is the Department of Homeland Security’s 24/7 online, collaborative information sharing network for bomb squad, first responders, military personnel, government officials, intelligence analysts, and security professionals. TRIPwire serves to increase awareness of evolving terrorist improvised explosive device (IED) tactics, techniques, and procedures, as well as providing incident lessons learned and counter-IED preparedness information. Developed and maintained by the Department’s Office for Bombing Prevention, the system combines expert analyses and reports with relevant documents, images, and videos gathered directly from terrorist sources to help users anticipate, identify, and prevent IED incidents.
