Tactical riflescopes

Leupold’s intense focus on product development has culminated in a new generation of tactical riflescopes that cover the spectrum of optics requirements, from close quarters to extended ranges, for soldiers as well as law enforcement and competitive shooters. In 2011, the Leupold Tactical Optics Division has launched innovative riflescopes including the Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm Extended Range/Tactical (ER/T) M5 Auto-Locking Adjustment model, the Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS, and the Mark 4 High Accuracy Multi-Range (HAMR). The U.S. Army has chosen the ER/T M5 Auto-Locking Adjustment riflescope as the primary day optic for its newest sniper rifle, the XM2010.

Facebook presence

Colt Defense LLC—a designer, developer, and manufacturer of rifles and carbines—announces the official launch of its presence on Facebook. Colt’s Facebook page allows visitors to gain access to exclusive information, behind-the-scenes photos and videos, and expert advice from the maker of a line of weapons designed to be technologically advanced and reliable. Colt has supplied military, law enforcement, and individual customers throughout the world for 175 years. Its subsidiary, Colt Canada Corporation, is the Canadian government’s Center for Excellence for small arms and is the Canadian military’s sole supplier of the C7 rile and C8 carbine.

Breathing mask

MSA’s FireHawk M7 Air Mask Less Personal Alert Safety System (PASS) is designed to provide self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) protection at lower cost for applications where no PASS device is needed. All pneumatic and electronics performance components are the same as that of MSA’s trusted FireHawk M7 and FireHawk M7 Responder Air Masks. The FireHawk M7 Air Mask Less PASS meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1981 and can be retrofitted for a PASS device if needed. This SCBA meets NFPA 1981 and 1982 when a PASS device is added.

Courtroom recording equipment

ForTheRecord (FTR) announced that all 352 courtrooms in Slovenia have been outfitted with the FTR Gold suite of products. Project “Audio Recording in Courts” is part of e-justice projects in Slovenia and is cofinanced by the European Social Fund. FTR Reporter and FTR Mixer were the key products from the FTR Gold family that were leased by the Slovenia Ministry of Justice through FTR’s Slovenia-based partner and audio integrator AVC Group. FTR is a global leader in providing digital recording and content management systems for judicial and public safety venues.

Protective computer case

To offer protection for the popular netbook and tablet devices, Pelican Products Inc. has introduced the Pelican 1075 HardBack. Designed as watertight and crush-resistant armor for tablet-style computers and netbooks, the case was developed in a unique partnership between Pelican and BMW Designworks. Fitting in most soft bags, the Pelican 1075 will protect just about any sensitive electronic device up to 10 inches in size from the rigors of travel; the case sports a high-impact, heat- and chemical-resistant composite shell that will stand up to some of the harshest conditions. Night vision monocular

Based on American Technologies Network’s (ATN’s) original PVS multipurpose night vision monocular, ATN has now developed a unit designed with the same high-quality optics and functionality in the PVS14-2 (IAA) for law enforcement and security professionals. The new ATN night vision monocular is designed for handheld and head or helmet mounting for hands-free use or can be adapted to fit a camera or camcorder. It uses third generation image intensifier tubes that have a microchannel plate, GaAs photocathode, and a self-contained integral high-voltage power supply. The tubes combine increased resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, and photosensitivity, resulting in improved clarity.

Digital in-car video system

Digital Ally, which develops, manufacturers, and markets advanced video surveillance, speed enforcement, and thermal imaging products, introduces the DMV-100. Roth Sheppard Architects announced the launch of seven new law enforcement and municipal projects to be completed over the next 18 months. The firm is known for its law enfor cement, restaurant, retail, and entertainment design throughout the western United States. New projects include the city of Cherry Hills Village, Colo., and South Metro Fire Rescue Authority Joint Public Safety Facility; the Arapahoe County, Colo., Justice Center Lobby Expansion; the Colorado State Patrol Historical Museum and Learning Center; and the Houston, Texas, Police Department Fondren Station.
