How many times do officers decide against discussing their daily activities with their family for the sole purpose of wanting to protect them from all the negativity and toxicity a job in law enforcement exposes one to? How many families have had to wait an extra 20 minutes at a restaurant just so their law enforcement family member could have that corner table to keep his or her back against the wall? How often do law enforcement families get the pleasure of listening to the officer’s ongoing dialogue about search warrants, arrests, or death investigations while driving through the community in which the officer serves (and, often, the family lives)?
