What do you believe is law enforcement’s role in serving vulnerable populations?

Since the 19th century, law enforcement has had a role in serving vulnerable populations, and that role continues today. In 1829, Sir Robert Peel, who is considered the father of modern-day policing, created nine principles for establishing and maintaining trust and legitimacy between the police and the community. The nine principles established in the 19th century are just as relevant in the 21st century as they were in 1829. Public favor is gained when we recognize that, as fellow community members, we hold the special distinction to serve and protect the others in their moments of vulnerability.
