I believe the biggest challenge that today’s policing professionals face is the daily interactions with vulnerable populations, which can include homelessness, drug addiction, mental health issues, and sensory disorders. The biggest concern, in my mind, is that many facets of these issues are noncriminal. To that end, they are not “law enforcement” issues, yet
law enforcement personnel are often the first group called to assist.
