Is law enforcement a “profession”? Police officers certainly consider themselves to be professionals; however, society continues to struggle to hold law enforcement in the same regard as engineering or medicine. Why is that? Police officers have many, if not more, of the same expectations placed on them as licensed professionals in other fields.
