Breath alcohol tester

Intoximeters Inc. recently announced the release of the handheld Alco-Sensor FST. The ASFST is designed to be small, lightweight, and symmetrical so that officers can use it comfortably in either hand. It is designed to allow officers to position themselves where they can control the subject, protect their weapon, and view both the subject and the instrument display, and preventing the subject’s breath from being blown in their direction. The Alco-Sensor FST comes standard with a backlit LCD and illuminated mouthpiece guide for use in low light conditions.

Footwear

Bates Uniform Footwear announces its Counter Terrorism Series of duty boots for law enforcement. Featuring streamlined designs and stealth elements, the Counter Terrorism Series is designed to perform under the most demanding conditions. The M-9 nine-inch boots are made with leather and nylon uppers and lined with Gore-Tex and 200-gram Thinsulate insulation. A flex notch at the ankle and a flex point at the heel are designed to increase mobility in key stress areas. Lightweight, shock-absorbing midsoles help keep feet comfortable while aggressive Vibram Mutant outsoles provide outstanding traction. The M-9 Zip has the same components as the M-9 but also offers a side zip to design to offer an easy on/off option. Retractile cords

Autac Inc. introduces its glow-in-the-dark retractile cords. Designed to meet law enforcement needs, the cords can be used on police radios worn by officers and in other police applications. Designed with a glow-in-the-dark material, the cords will glow for up to eight hours after exposure to light. The retractile cords extend only as far as necessary, making the cords easier to wear and eliminating clutter in vehicles and stations. Available in PVC and TPE, the retractable cords are available in 14-gauge three-conductor and 16-gauge three-conductor, which extend on a 1:5 ratio. Customized lengths and ratios are also available.

Microphone

Twitco, a manufacturer and distributor of two-way radios, announces that the rugged and weatherproof ParMarLow SM-1100 Speaker Microphone is now compatible with Motorola Saber and Astro Saber portable radios. The SM-1100 comes standard with a rotating clothing clip and its coil cord is wired to the specific mating connector of the radio. The microphone also features a built-in 3.5-millimeter jack for remote earphones. Its thumb-sized PTT switch is fully enclosed in a rubber boot for durability. Light tower

GTM Canada Inc. introduces its portable light tower, an alternative light source designed to illuminate up to 100,000 square feet in emergency field operations. Designed to be set up and taken down easily by a single person, the tower extends to a height of 15 feet during use and features a 1,000-watt halide lamp. When not in use, the unit takes up little storage space (two feet by two feet by 1-1/2 feet). An optional generator is also available.

SWAT training

FATS Inc. announces the release of SWAT II, new courseware specifically designed for Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) units. Nationally recognized SWAT instructor John T. Meyer Jr. helped design the product. SWAT II provides training to rehearse real-life situations facing SWAT teams. Scenarios in the courseware include hostage rescue, response to terrorist threats, residence entry, vehicle takedown, methamphetamine lab raids, and weapon searches. One example of a SWAT II scenario includes armed suspects holding hostages at a commercial business. During this scenario, the SWAT team containing the inner perimeter is forced into action as the terrorists try to exit the building.

Driver training video

Coastal Training Technologies announces the release of a driver training program designed specifically for those who drive emergency response vehicles. Emergency Response Driving is a fast-paced, compelling video about driving safely while the lights are flashing and the sirens are blaring. Pouch system for body armor

Pacific Safety Products announces that it is now licensed to offer the Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) as an option on Protected by PSP tactical body armor and load-bearing vests. The PALS interwoven webbing is designed to allow pouches to be securely placed where required for fast access to your critical equipment. The PALS system joins the other pouch attachment systems used by the company, including fixed pocket, snap grid, and the PSP-exclusive Channel Lock system used on the Phoenix vest.
