A U.S. Secret Service Analysis of Targeted School Violence

February 14, 2020, marked two years since 17 students and staff were killed and 17 more were injured at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. This tragedy and others like it have driven schools and public safety professionals to develop strategies to prevent future attacks. Law enforcement agencies have an important role to play in preventing such tragedies, as part of a multidisciplinary school threat assessment process.
