In the northwest corner of New Mexico, located in the Four Corners region, is a city with a myriad recreational opportunities. In Farmington, New Mexico, three rivers run through the heart of the city—the San Juan, Animas, and La Plata Rivers. Along those waterways are nearly 50 parks that can be enjoyed year-round, with trails that are ideal for walking, running, and biking.
However, some of these opportunities are not being utilized because the river trails have a public perception of being unsafe. The Farmington, New Mexico, Police Department has set out to break down that perception through their new division—the Park Ranger Unit.
