Each day, police officers see all-too-familiar situations—a family struggling to keep the lights on; parents and children without adequate food; and far too many people suffering from drug and alcohol abuse and dependency.

Recognizing that not every challenge facing a member of the public is best met by a traditional law enforcement response, the police department in Wilmington, Delaware, has launched a pair of initiatives designed to connect members of the public with a wide range of resources.
