It is becoming increasingly difficult to open any news site today without reading about cyber invasions, data breaches, and privacy compromises. No sector has gone unscathed. The size, scope, and expense of dealing with cybersecurity issues has been increasing in recent years with notable intrusions occurring in the private sector and most recently within the governmental sector, as was the case with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The burden and expense of these intrusions are borne by the victims and defenders who rely on a risk-based methodology for protecting vital assets.
