High-speed patrol boat
MetalCraft Marine U.S. Inc. and partner Brunswick Commercial and Government Products have been awarded a contract for the design and the production of the new generation Long Range Interceptor II (LRI II) for the U.S. Coast Guard. The LRI II is powered by twin Cummins Tier III diesel engines and water jets with electronic joystick controls. All systems are designed for equatorial and arctic conditions, and each patrol boat has a fully integrated electronics package. The cabin can be partially or fully enclosed and has 360-degree and overhead visibility for navigation, shipboard recovery, and launching maneuvers.

Miniature mobile robots
ReconRobotics Inc. announces its contract with the U.S. Army’s Rapid Equipping Force for up to 1,000 miniature, able to be thrown, mobile robots. The Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will streamline the purchasing process for deploying Army and Marine Corps units and speed delivery on the company’s prepriced microrobot systems and accessories. ReconRobotics created an entirely new class of military robots in 2007 when it introduced the able to be thrown Recon Scout microrobot. Prior to that time, military robots were transported in vehicles and deployed as company- or battalion-level assets.

Crime data software
Zco Corporation introduces Time Patrol, new software for analyzing crime data to identify trends and patterns. Developed for the Apple iPad, the graphic interface can define standard reports for distribution or be individually used for ad hoc investigations in a mobile environment.
