Law enforcement vehicles and accessories have seen significant change since the 17th Annual IACP Conference (1910),  when Chief Beach of Waterbury, Connecticut, stated “All of these machines are being used more or less in quite a few of the police departments in this country [USA], and I venture to predict that the day is not far distant when no police department will be considered up-to-date without automobile service.”
