To help the policing profession in its search, the IACP offers an all-in-one policy and program development resource library called IACPnet.

IACPnet strives to help police leaders make informed, data-driven decisions by providing intuitive online resources, tools, and e-libraries. Through IACPnet, police professionals can access a wealth of information, including

Policies: all IACP Model Policies and Discussion Papers, as well as more than 20,000 policies from global policing agencies

Job Descriptions: job description information for a variety of policing roles to recruit both sworn and civilian staff

Resources: a wide variety of resources covering the full spectrum of policing issues

Funding: information on grants in addition to budget and financial administration resources

Training: logistics for the latest policing conferences, trainings, and other events, along with resources to help support training efforts within an agency

Networking: networking opportunities to form valuable connections with other members of the policing field

Since its inception in 1991, IACPnet has come a long way. Originally owned by Login, Inc., and delivered to customers via floppy disk, IACPnet began as a service for all government entities; however, the subsection servicing law enforcement gained the most traffic, which inspired Login, Inc., to redesign IACPnet in 1993 to focus exclusively on policing needs. In 2017, the IACP bought IACPnet, and this change in ownership launched a period of rapid growth as IACPnet became fully integrated into the IACP.

In recent years, IACPnet has continued to evolve. In 2020, IACPnet’s website began offering users simplified menu navigation, more intuitive search capabilities, new filtering and sorting tools, and enhanced visibility for the Discussion Board. IACPnet also began providing a language and accessibility feature, which helps with translation and accessibility by using a reader, magnifier, and color changes. Over the past year, IACPnet has upgraded its search engine to improve subscribers’ search experience with faster search speed, enhanced date filtering, and improved sorting that populates most relevant and newer data first. This year, IACPnet published the latest available data from the Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics survey to assist police leaders with personnel and policy planning.

Today, IACPnet has more than 1,700 police agencies and 6,000 individuals as subscribers, meeting the needs of many police professionals. Deputy Chief Wendy Luster from the Albany, Georgia, Police Department reported how she finds IACPnet beneficial:

IACPnet … provides a wide range of topics for those in leadership positions and prepares officers for promotion when used consistently. I recommend it to any officer that is seeking promotion or wants to gain greater knowledge on certain topics.

Captain William Dunleavy from Medford Township, New Jersey, Police Department shared how IACPnet helped his agency:

We are very happy with the platform. IACPnet has been so helpful with our wellness initiative, and we have utilized various material and training from the site. It really is my go-to for training ideas—not just for wellness but a variety of topics.

Similarly, Chief of Police and Corporate Security Peter Lambrinakos from VIA Rail Canada Police Service and Corporate Security also had this to say about IACPnet:

We find IACPnet invaluable.
